Mean IOP over 12 months

Timolol and other beta-blockers are indicated for the first-line treatment of elevated IOP in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.

Pooled data from two 12-month, multicenter, double-masked, randomized, parallel-group studies of 1159 patients with elevated IOP randomized to receive either COMBIGAN® BID (n = 385), brimonidine TID 0.2% (n = 382), or timolol 0.5% BID (n = 392). All patients were required to undergo washout of any IOP-lowering medications prior to the baseline visit. Safety was evaluated by incidence of adverse events and other ocular and systemic measures. Scheduled visits were at baseline (day 0); weeks 2 and 6; and months 3, 6, 9, and 12. Analysis is based on the intent-to-treat patient population with last observation carried forward for missing values. Similar results were obtained using observed values in the per-protocol patient population.
